Jordan Commercial Bank Secures Top Honors in Occupational Health and Safety Excellence Award

Amman, Jordan — In a move that reaffirms its leadership and commitment to its staff and customers, Jordan Commercial Bank (JCB) recently secured first place in the Financial and Banking Services sector. This achievement follows the successful implementation of a comprehensive strategic safety plan, which resulted in a "zero" work injury rate across all branches and departments during 2025.

The recognition came as part of the Occupational Safety and Health Excellence Award (2024-2025 cycle) launched by the Social Security Corporation (SSC) under the theme: "A Psychologically and Socially Supportive Work Environment: The Path to Thriving Workers and Strong Organizations." The initiative aims to encourage institutions to provide safe working environments, minimize occupational risks, and adhere to global safety standards.

The award was presented to Eng. Ayman Yassin, Head of Occupational Health and Safety at JCB, during a ceremony held by the SSC on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel – Amman. The event was held under the patronage of the Director General of the SSC, Dr. Jadallah Al-Khasawneh, representing the Minister of Labor and Chairman of the SSC, Dr. Khaled Al-Bakkar.

Commenting on this milestone, Mr. Caesar Qulajen, General Manager of Jordan Commercial Bank, stated:

"This achievement embodies our firm belief that human safety is our top priority. It is a tangible reflection of senior management's strategy for absolute compliance with official regulations, transforming occupational safety from mere preventive measures into a deep-rooted corporate culture."

Mr. Qulajen highlighted that this vision was realized through an integrated system, which included:

  • Board-Approved Policies: Adopting a formal safety policy at the highest governance level.
  • Specialized Department: Establishing a dedicated Occupational Health and Safety department.
  • Safety Committee: Forming a committee representing all bank sectors to ensure precise implementation.
  • Medical Infrastructure: Equipping a full-service clinic managed by a certified full-time physician.
  • Advanced Systems: Developing state-of-the-art fire suppression systems and conducting regular mock evacuation drills.
  • Empowerment: Providing continuous training workshops and personal protective equipment (PPE) tailored to specific job roles.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, Dr. Al-Khasawneh congratulated the winners, emphasizing that the Social Security Corporation remains committed to fostering safe and stimulating work environments. He noted that protecting workers across various sectors is vital for driving the Kingdom’s economic growth.
