The Jordan Commercial Bank (“JCB”) has recently committed sponsorship for a basketball tournament for athletes with down syndrome organised by a group of female students from the Amman Baccalaureate School (“ABS”)–the tournament aimed at promoting awareness on down syndrome and raise funds from the sponsoring and charitable institutions and associations involved with the down syndrome cause. As such, the JCB’s decision to sponsor the ABS’s Basketball Tournament has been, foremost, prompted by its commitment to supporting activities and initiatives across the humanitarian spectrum–which reflects the bank’s conviction that humanitarian causes in general, and the down syndrome cause in particular, must be object of special solicitude; and underscores the need for a cross-sectoral collaboration in supporting of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, mainly to enable them, and cover part of the costs of their education and medical treatment.
