Amman, Jordan -(May 2008)- Stemming from its strong belief in the power of education as the molder of minds, the Jordan Commercial Bank (JCBank) joined forces with the expanding network of benefactors of Al-Aman Fund for the Future of Orphans . Committed to making its contribution towards bettering the lives of Jordan’s orphaned youth, JCBank recently offered the Fund a sum of JD 5000 for the latter to use for its scholarship program.
The support provided to the Fund by the JCBank is to go towards the tuition fees and living expenses of Al-Aman Fund beneficiaries.
The management of the JCBank expressed great enthusiasm over the support extended to Al-Aman Fund, stressing that this contribution serves to reiterate the bank’s mission to contribute to the social and economic development of Jordan.
Speaking on behalf of the Fund, Ms. Maha Saqqa, Executive Director of Al-Aman Fund, explained that in light of modern day challenges, the youth of today might at times find it hard to sustain themselves economically. Youth graduating from orphan care centers may find an even bigger challenge when striving to reach economic independence, especially since they lack support that may otherwise be granted to their peers from family members.
Thanking JCBank’s administration for their most appreciated gesture, Ms. Saqqa further stated, “Through our work at the Fund we feel that we are in fact bettering Jordan’s economy and community, as we are helping expand Jordan’s workforce by fueling it with more youth who are educated and productive enough to become the leaders of tomorrow. Donations like this one bring us closer to our goal of creating a reality out of Her Majesty Queen Rania's vision for helping orphaned youth. Seizing this occasion, I thank the bank for their generous donation and I sincerely hope that their example will serve as an invitation for many other organizations to soon follow in their footsteps.”
From his end, CEO of JCBank Dr. Jawad Hadeed stated, “Our donation stems form our deep felt admiration for the work done by Al-Aman Fund, for the Fund has pioneered in many projects that have proven to be beneficial for the Kingdom. We believe that our youth are the building blocks needed for Jordan to advance economically and socially and by investing in our youth, I feel that we are investing in Jordan”
It is important to note that Al-Aman Fund for the Future of Orphans is an independent non-governmental organization founded in 2006 by Her Majesty Queen Rania Al-Abdullah. It equips orphaned youth, who graduated from orphan care centers at the age of 18, with the education and skills necessary to become successful, self-reliant, and productive members of society. This is done by operating five Support Schemes; educational scholarships, coverage of living expenses, counseling, apprenticeship & employment, and medical insurance.
Those who wish to make a contribution to Al-Aman Fund for the Future of Orphans can do so by placing deposits in the Fund's bank accounts, placing standing orders at their banks to transfer periodic donations to Al-Aman Fund, placing donations in Al-Aman Fund donation boxes, calling the Donations Hotline at 06 533 0500, or visiting Al-Aman Fund's website at www.alamanfund.jo.
